Smoothies can be a great option all year long. Not only are these blended drinks delicious drinks for people of any age, but they're also easy to load up with nutritious ingredients. Whether you're looking for a way to get more protein after the gym or more vitamins and minerals in your diet, smoothies are a great way to eat smarter. Here are a few winter-themed smoothies you might want to try this year.

Cran-Orange Smoothie
Cranberries are a popular winter fruit that, despite their tart taste, can enhance nearly any dish in small quantities. Smoothies are no different. Try making a delicious cranberry juice smoothie with some fresh orange slices, Greek yogurt and a few winter spices. This is a great option to add protein powder or other fitness supplements to. Just toss your ingredients into a performance blender with some ice and let the machine do the rest. In no time, you'll be sipping a tasty winter smoothie.

Apple Pie Smoothie
Yum! Mimic the taste of this All-American dessert with nutritious ingredients to blend a snack that's both scrumptious and and good for you. Combine 100 percent real apple juice with Greek yogurt, slices of a cored and peeled apple and a few oats. Sprinkle Top  the whole thing with some cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla extract and maybe a dollop of whipped cream.

Pomegranates aren't just loaded with vitamins and minerals - they're a winter fruit that you can find at the local store. Mix some pure pomegranate juice with tropical fruits such as oranges, bananas, pineapple and mango for a fruit-filled snack that blends winter and summer.
