Here are a few green milkshake recipes that'll work for whatever type of March 17 celebration you're planning.

1. Minty Milkshake

For many Americans, St. Patrick's Day is associated with parades, shamrocks and minty green milkshakes. To make your own milkshake just gather these ingredients:

  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon mint extract
  • 4 drops green and 1 drop yellow food coloring
  • Whipped cream.

Scoop the ice cream and pour the milk into your blender jar, then add the extract and food coloring. Blend of HIGH for 15 to 30 seconds. Pour into a sundae glass and add plenty of whipped cream on the top. Serve with a spoon and a straw and consider garnishing with some chocolate shavings and fresh mint.

2. St. Pistachio's Day
When you want to make a green milkshake, look no further than a green ice cream. Use pistachio ice cream to make a tasty green alternative to the minty St. Patrick's Day standard shake. Here's what you'll need:

  • 2 cups pistachio ice cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 drops green food dye
  • Chopped pistachios.

Combine the ice cream, milk and food dye in your blender jar. Next, add chopped pistachios based on your preference. One tablespoon should be plenty. Blend on HIGH and serve with a few chopped pistachios on top as a garnish.

You can make a vegan or dairy-free version of this recipe by using chopped pistachios, pistachio butter, almond milk and sugar.
