How to Add Pumpkin to Your Breakfast

This autumn, why not try some festive experiments in the kitchen? Rather than reaching for your go-to pancake recipe or that classic dish you make on a Sunday morning, add a bit of pumpkin to your meal. 

Try one of these tasty pumpkin breakfast ideas for this autumn. 

Real Pumpkin Pancakes 
Pumpkin spice seasoning might be all the rage right now, but it can't beat a pancake with real pumpkin puree. Although these pancakes have a few more ingredients than the classic breakfast food, they're just as easy to make and you can grill them up with your Oster® DuraCeramic™ Electric Griddle.

Here's what you'll need to get started: 

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 cups buttermilk 
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar 
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger 
  • 1 teaspoon all spice 
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour.

Simply combine your ingredients into a large bowl until you're left with a thick batter. Pour the batter on your nonstick griddle and flip as needed. Serve these tasty pumpkin treats with your favorite fall fruit.

Gourd-eous Waffles 
If you're not a big fan of pancakes why not try your hand at making waffles? All you need is a great waffle maker to make this a reality. You can make pumpkin waffles in your kitchen with many of the same ingredients you used in the pancake batter. Just pour it into your waffle maker, follow the instructions and serve with syrup - another fall treat! 

Pumpkin-Orange Smoothie
Smoothies are another great fall breakfast food. Perfect for people on the go, smoothies also let you incorporate pumpkin into your diet. Follow this recipe with your smoothie blender

  • 6 ounces vanilla low-fat yogurt
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree 
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Ice.

Pour each of your ingredients into your smoothie blender's blender jar. Ensure that the blender is firmly closed and properly positioned then turn it on. Blend until your mixture is smooth and frothy. 

Drink directly from your personal blender jar or pour into a glass and enjoy with a friend.
