This spring, why not add some herbs to your smoothies? There are a wide variety of herbs that will provide a sophisticated and creative botanical twist to your typical fruit and veggie smoothie recipes. They're equal parts refreshing, nutritious and fun. The herbs add an extra health boost to these smoothies, which you can whip up on in the morning before you head to work.

Get creative this spring with these three herb-infused smoothies.

1. Lovely Lemon Verbena Smoothie
Lemon verbena has a delicate lemon flavor that's perfect for the warm-weather, and the herb has many health benefits including supporting your immune system by reducing inflammation. Milder than lemon juice or zest, verbena pairs well with the sweetness of raspberries and tang of peaches to make a delicious and anything-but-ordinary smoothie. You can find lemon verbena in some health food stores, and it's also easy to order online - or you can grow your own!

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 3-4 lemon verbena leaves
  • 1/2 peach, peeled, pitted and sliced
  • 1/3 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey
  • Handful of ice.

Add all the ingredients to the Oster Pro™ 1200 Plus Smoothie Cup & Food Processor Attachment blender jar. Pulse on high for 3-4 minutes. Pour into glasses and garnish with a peach slice and sprig of lemon verbena.

2. Spring Thyme Smoothie
Fragrant thyme adds complexity to this light, refreshing smoothie made with honeydew melon and cucumber. As an added bonus, thyme also contains high levels of an antioxidants that protects cell structures, vitamins that boost your immune system and antimicrobrial properties.

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2-3 sprigs of thyme
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 cup honeydew, chopped
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup cucumber, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice.

In a small saucepan, bring 1/2 cup of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the thyme and honey. Let steep for 4-6 minutes, stir and then remove the thyme sprigs from the water and set aside. In the jar of your Oster® Heritage Blend™ Kitchen Center Blender, add the steeped water, honeydew, yogurt, cucumber and lemon juice and blend together for 3-4 minutes or until smooth. Serve in a tall glasses and garnish with a cube of melon.
