4 Grilled Sandwiches to Celebrate National Grilled Cheese Day

National Grilled Cheese Day is April 12, and that means it's time to use the 7-minute grill to whip up some melted, toasty sandwiches. However, just because it's Grilled Cheese Day doesn't mean you have to stick with the basic American cheese-and-white-bread sandwich. Expand your palate and take advantage of the Oster® 7-Minute Grill's superior grilling power to make a wide range of flavor-packed grilled sandwiches. You can grill up delicious sandwiches in just a few minutes, and clean-up is a cinch.

Try making any of these delicious grilled sandwiches today.

1. Cranberry, Brie and Grilled Chicken Sandwich
The tartness of cranberries perfectly complements the sweet, creamy flavor of brie. Put them together in a grilled sandwich and you've got a winning combo that makes for a totally unexpected sandwich.


  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces brie, with the rind removed
  • 2/3 cup cranberry sauce
  • 1 cup pre-cooked grilled chicken.

Spread both sides of each slice of bread with honey and butter. Top two of the slices with a few pieces of brie, a little cranberry sauce and a handful of chicken. Top with the other slices of bread, and then cook the sandwiches in the Oster® 7-Minute Grill for 3 minutes.

2. Blue Cheese and Bacon Sandwich
Creamy blue cheese, salty bacon, caramelized onions and spinach piled high on ciabatta bread is a satisfying grilled sandwich that will shake up your typical lunch meal.


  • 8 ounces bacon
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 small yellow onion, sliced
  • 4 slices ciabatta bread
  • 8 ounces blue cheese
  • 1 cup spinach.

Cook the bacon on your Oster® 7-Minute Grill for 5 minutes. Then, in a small saucepan over medium heat, cook the onions in olive oil and brown sugar until caramelized. Brush each slice of bread with olive oil, then, oil side down, top with bacon, onions, blue cheese and spinach. Cover with the remaining bread slices, and cook on the 7-minute grill for 4 minutes.

3. Pineapple and Ham Grilled Cheese
Pineapple and ham is a great flavor combo on pizzas, but it also works well as a twist on the classic grilled cheese.


  • 4 slices white bread
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 can sliced pineapple rings
  • 8 ounces sliced deli ham
  • 6 ounces sliced Monterey Jack cheese.

Spread each slice of bread with a little olive oil and honey. Top with a few slices of ham, cheese and pineapple. Top with the remaining slices of bread and cook on the Oster® 7-Minute Grill for 3 minutes.

4. Turkey and Guac Grilled Wrap
Enjoy some south-of-the-border flavor with this Turkey and Guacamole Grilled Wrap.


  • 2 tortillas
  • 6 ounces turkey deli meat
  • 1/2 cup guacamole
  • 1 small tomato, chopped
  • 1/4 cup corn
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 6 ounces shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • Lime wedge.

On each tortilla, layer the turkey, guacamole, tomato, corn sour cream and cheese. Top with a dash of lime juice. Roll up the tortillas and cook on the Oster® 7-Minute Grill for 3 minutes and enjoy with a side of salsa.
