5 Variations on Deviled Eggs

Easy to make, transport and enjoy, deviled eggs are a crowd-pleasing appetizer that works at any occasion. The basic recipe will always be a success: It includes mayonnaise, salt, black pepper, mustard and paprika. However, there are lots of delicious renditions of classic deviled eggs that you can create that will impress your party guests and add something a little different to the table. 

Try making these variations of deviled eggs for your next party, picnic or cookout:

1. Sour Cream and Onion Deviled Eggs
Light and fresh sour cream and flavorful onion are a no-fail combination in a variety of foods, including deviled eggs. In this recipe, sour cream is a light alternative to mayonnaise while still adding delicious creaminess to the filling. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 dozen hard boiled eggs 
  • 3/4 cup sour cream 
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt 
  • Chives

Directions
Cut eggs in half, then remove yolks and place in a bowl. In the food processor attachment of your Oster® Oskar™ 2-in-1 Salad Prep & Food Processor Attachment, combine the sour cream, onion powder and garlic salt. Add yolks and mix until fully combined. Place and spoonful into eggs, sprinkle with chives and serve.

2. Southwestern Deviled Eggs 
Add some fiesta flavor to deviled eggs with this Southwest-inspired recipe. Creamy avocado and crushed tomatoes create a delicious filling while cumin adds just a hint of heat to keep things interesting. Fresh cilantro and a twist of lime complete this fun appetizer. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 dozen hard boiled eggs 
  • 1 large avocado, peeled and cored
  • 1 large tomato
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin 
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Splash of lime juice

Directions
Cut eggs in half, then remove yolks and place in a bowl. In the food processor attachment of your Oster® Oskar™ 2-in-1 Salad Prep & Food Processor Attachment, combine all ingredients until smooth. Add yolks and mix until incorporated. Spoon mixture into eggs and serve. 

3. Veggie Deviled Eggs

Ingredients:

  • 1 dozen hard boiled eggs
  • 2 large carrots 
  • 1/2 zucchini
  • 3 celery stalks 
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise 
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 
  • 1 tablespoon mustard 
  • Dash of garlic powder

Directions
Cut eggs in half, then remove yolks and place in bowl. Slice the carrots, zucchini, bell pepper and celery using the Oster® Oskar™ 2-in-1 Salad Prep & Food Processor Attachment. Place the sliced veggies in the Food Processor Attachment, then add the yolks, mayonnaise, salt, black pepper, mustard and garlic powder and combine until smooth. Spoon into eggs and serve. 

4. Bacon Ranch Deviled Eggs 
Rich ranch dressing adds extra creaminess to basic deviled eggs, while thick-cut bacon incorporates a slightly sweet and rustic flavor to the appetizer to add some additional substance.

Ingredients:

  • 1 dozen hard boiled eggs
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion 
  • 1/4 pound thick-slice bacon, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • Paprika

Directions
Cut eggs in half, then remove yolks and place in bowl. Combine the ranch dressing, dried minced onion, crumbled bacon, mayonnaise and yolks in the Oster® Oskar™ 2-in-1 Salad Prep & Food Processor Attachment. Spoon into eggs, sprinkle with paprika and serve. 

5. Cream Cheese and Salmon Deviled Eggs 
Cream cheese, smoked salmon and cucumber are a winning trio for breakfast, brunch or any party featuring sophisticated eats. This clever deviled eggs rendition of the combo is sure to impress your party guests. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 dozen hard boiled eggs
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 3 tablespoons sour cream 
  • 6 ounces smoked salmon

Directions
Cut eggs in half, then remove yolks and place in bowls. Slice the cucumber using the Oster® Oskar™ 2-in-1 Salad Prep & Food Processor Attachment and set aside. In the Food Processor Attachment, combine the cream cheese, sour cream and yolks. Spoon 1 teaspoon of the mixture into eggs, top with a few cucumber slices, add anotther 1/2 tablespoon of the filling and then secure a small smoked salmon slice on top.
