4 Winter Panini Recipes

A toasty panini fresh off the grill is just the thing to warm up a cold winter day. Perfectly grilled slices of bread filled with tasty meats, melted cheeses and fresh vegetables - paninis are a cozy meal to beat the chill. Paninis traditionally require the bread to be prepared with butter or oil so it grills correctly. However, with the Oster® DuraCeramic™ Infusion Series 2-in-1 Panini Maker and Grill, there's no need to add oil when cooking, thanks to the innovative coated cooking surface.

Adding in seasonal ingredients to paninis takes them to the next level. Try these four delicious winter recipes:

1. Goat Cheese and Fig Panini 
Goat cheese elevates simple ingredients, with its tangy flavor and soft, creamy consistency. It complements the taste of sweet figs - add in pear and prosciutto slices and you've got a wonderfully rustic panini recipe for winter. 

Ingredients:

  • 2 large slices ciabatta bread 
  • 2 tablespoons fig jam 
  • 3 slices prosciutto 
  • 1 small pear, sliced 
  • 3 ounces goat cheese 

Directions
Spread one side of each slice of bread with fig jam. Arrange prosciutto, pear slices and goat cheese between the two slices of bread. Grill on the Oster® DuraCeramic™ Infusion Series 2-in-1 Panini Maker and Grill at medium-high heat until bread is toasted and ingredients are warm. Slice panini in half and serve.

2. Root Vegetable Panini
Root vegetables are hearty and delicious, not to mention full of vitamins and nutrients. Use leftover vegetables from dinner to make a delicious and cozy wintertime panini. For extra taste, grill onions on the Oster® DuraCeramic™ Infusion Series 2-in-1 Panini Maker and add to the panini along with sliced turkey. 

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 large onion rings
  • 2 large slices ciabatta bread 
  • 1/2 sweet potato, sliced 
  • 2 tablespoons butternut squash 
  • 3 slices sliced turkey 

Directions
Grill the onion rings on medium heat on the Oster® DuraCeramic™ Infusion Series 2-in-1 Panini Maker and Grill until tender and lightly browned. Place sweet potato slices, squash, onions and sliced turkey on one slice of bread and secure the other slice on top. Grill on medium-high heat until bread is toasted and ingredients are warm. Slice panini in half and serve. 

3. Sweet Apple Brie Panini
Cinnamon and apples aren't just staples in winter desserts - they're also delicious in a panini made with creamy Brie cheese to balance the sweetness. 

Ingredients:

  • 2 large slices ciabatta bread 
  • 3 ounces Brie cheese
  • 1 red apple, sliced 
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg 
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 

Directions
Spread one side of each slice of bread with Brie cheese. Layer on the apple slices and season with nutmeg and cinnamon. Grill on medium-high heat on the Oster® DuraCeramic™ Infusion Series 2-in-1 Panini Maker and Grill until bread is toasted and apples are soft. Slice in half and serve. 

4. Pomegranate Panini
Pomegranates are in season in the winter, and are a tasty and creative addition to paninis. Pair pomegranate seeds with grilled chicken and mozzarella cheese to complete the panini. 

Ingredients:

  • 2 large slices ciabatta bread 
  • 3 thick grilled chicken slices 
  • 2 tablespoons pomegranate seeds 
  • 3 ounces sliced mozzarella 
  • Handful spinach leaves 

Directions
Layer grilled chicken, pomegranate, mozzarella and spinach leaves on bread to assemble panini. Grill at medium-high heat on the Oster® DuraCeramic™ Infusion Series 2-in-1 Panini Maker and Grill until ingredients are warm and mozzarella has melted. Slice in half and serve.
