You've got your sneakers on and earbuds in, but don't forget one other workout essential: a protein smoothie. Shakes and smoothies packed with protein provide a delicious boost to your workout.

If protein smoothies make you think of chalky, flavorless drinks, you'll be happy to hear that there are plenty of great-tasting recipes to turbo-charge your workout.

Whip up any of the protein smoothies below in your Oster® Mason Jar Blender to help boost your workout.

Choco-PB
It's rare that the word "chocolate" is in the same sentence as "workout," but this yummy smoothie recipe from Daily Burn is packed with good-for-you nutrients.

  • 2 scoops chocolate-flavored protein powder
  • 1 cup skim milk or unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • Handful of ice.

Place ingredients in mason jar and blend together until you're left with a creamy drink that you and your taste buds will love.

Banana Bread
Banana bread is a great start to your morning - and your workout. Try this recipe inspired by Muscle & Fitness:

  • 2 scoops vanilla-flavored protein powder
  • 1 cup skim milk or unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 bananas
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Handful of ice.

Toss everything into your Oster® Fresh+Blend'N Go™ Mason Jar Blender and mix together for a great banana-bread inspired smoothie. You can also add in some raw cacao powder or a little cinnamon to make it extra tasty.

Coffee Almond
Coffee lovers will enjoy this protein shake from the Daily Burn. In your blender, combine:

  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup almonds
  • 1 teaspoon cacao powder or chocolate-flavored protein powder
  • 1/2 cup coffee, brewed and chilled

Blend the milk, water and almonds until smooth, then add the other ingredients. This smoothie not only helps promote healthy muscles, but it gives you an extra dose of energy as you go into your workout.

Power Player
Pack your smoothie with protein and Vitamin C-rich fruits for an extra powerful workout boost. Try this recipe inspired by BestHealthMag.com.

  • 1 1/2 scoops vanilla-flavored or plain protein powder
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup seedless red grapes
  • 1/2 cup beets, cooked, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice.

Combine everything in your blender and beat until smooth. In addition to the protein, antioxidants and vitamins, you also get a dose of nitrate from the beets. Some studies have shown that nitrate may aid oxygen intake to help people exercise longer.

Green Giant
Made with spinach and kale but sweetened up just enough with fruit and a touch of vanilla flavor, this smoothie delivers vital nutrients along with a protein punch. This recipe incorporates ingredients from the Superwoman Smoothie recipe from BestHealthMag.com.

  • 2 scoops vanilla-flavored protein powder
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup kale
  • 1/2 apple, peeled
  • 1/2 banana.

Mix together all the ingredients in your Oster® Mason Jar Blender. Try substituting the skim milk for almond milk for a non-dairy option.

Any one of these smoothies will help support healthy muscle development, so whip one up and tote it along to your next workout.
