A flavorful sauce can transform a simple dish - a plate of pasta is elevated with garlicky pesto, a basic stir-fry is emboldened with a rich hoisin sauce and a bowl of spinach becomes sensational when topped with a zesty dressing. You could buy a jar of sauce pre-made in the supermarket, but for a fresher, more natural alternative, why not whip up your own?

Using the Oster® Rapid Blend™ 300 Plus Blender with Food Processor Attachment, you can create an endless variety of sauces, dressings and marinades. Any flavor combination is at your fingertips, and with just a push of a button, you'll soon have a delicious homemade meal.

1. Classic Pesto
Even though it contains just a few simple ingredients, pesto elevates a bowl of pasta to new heights.

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup pine nuts
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil.

Add the basil, garlic, pine nuts and cheese to the food processor attachment of your Oster® Rapid Blend™ 300 Plus Blender, and mix until fully combined. After stopping the food processor, use a spatula to scrape the pesto off the sides and gather it around the center of the bowl. Then, while running the food processor at a low speed, gradually add the olive oil and beat for 1 minute. Mix pasta, cooked al-dente, with the sauce for a no-fail, classic meal. You can also use pesto as a sandwich spread, dip for crackers or mix a little in with balsamic vinaigrette for an Italian-inspired salad.

2. Hoisin Sauce
The sweet taste of hoisin sauce pairs perfectly with all kinds of stir-frys, whether they're made with noodles, rice, beef, chicken or shrimp.

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter.

Simply blend all ingredients in the food processor attachment for 3-4 minutes at full speed. Use as a dipping sauce for dumplings, marinade for chicken or pork or topping for white or fried rice.

3. Chimichurri Sauce
This Mexican classic is just spicy enough to add some kick to your meal. Pour on a lot or a little - it's up to you!

  • 1 cup parsley leaves, packed lightly
  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves, packed lightly
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili pepper flakes.

Combine all ingredients in the food processor attachment for 20-30 seconds at high speed. Chimichurri should not be overly soupy - it should be blended only until it's just combined. The sauce is traditionally served with red meat, like skirt or flank steak, but you can also try it on other grilled meats and seafood like chicken and shrimp.

4. Cilantro Avocado Dressing
Fragrant cilantro and creamy avocado are a match made in heaven. With a Greek yogurt base, this dressing is richer than your average salad topper.

  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cup cilantro leaves
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • Dash of lime juice.

Add all ingredients to the food processor attachment and blend on high speed for 5 minutes for a restaurant-worthy dressing. Its flavors complement a rich Cobb salad made with hard-boiled eggs, bacon and cheddar cheese. It's also a creamy topping for a hearty kale salad. The mix isn't just for salads - You can enjoy it as a taco topper, sandwich spread or dipping sauce for chicken wings.

5. Veggie Bolognese Sauce
Everyone should have a basic Bolognese sauce recipe committed to memory - and this one is punched up with vegetables.

  • 2 cans tomatoes, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms
  • 3 cups chicken stock
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef, cooked.

Add all the ingredients except for the ground beef into the food processor attachment. Blend at high speed for 4 minutes. Then, heat oil in a skillet at medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, then pour in the sauce and heat until warm throughout, about 7-8 minutes, and serve over pasta.
