Panini Recipes for the March Basketball Finals
Cheeseburgers, nachos and pizza are tournament staples, but why not try something a little different this year? Paninis are a filling and savory meal to enjoy while cheering on your team, and they can be a creative twist on typical basketball party fare. Best of all, it just takes a few simple ingredients to create delicious panini perfection.

Buffalo Chicken Paninis
If there's a basketball game on nearby, chances are that you're enjoying a plate of buffalo wings. This recipe gives fans a fun new way to enjoy this sports bar standard. As an added benefit, these paninis mean less mess to clean up!
- 1 pound boneless and skinless chicken thighs, fully cooked and sliced
- 1 cup Buffalo sauce
- 1/2 cup crumbled blue or mozzarella cheese
- Sliced bread.
Mix together the chicken and Buffalo sauce in a medium bowl. Heat the Oster® Extra Large DuraCeramic™ Panini Maker and Indoor Grill. Mist two slices of bread with cooking spray, and then, on the un-sprayed side of one slice, spoon on some of the chicken and top with a handful of the cheese. Place the other slice on top, sprayed side facing out, and cook in the machine for 5-8 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted.
What's better than a slice of pizza? All the melted cheesy parts of a pizza stuffed between two buttery, perfectly toasted pieces of bread.
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Sliced bread
- 1 jar of pizza sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
- 1/4 cup green pepper, chopped (optional)
- 1/4 cup mushrooms (optional).
Heat your Oster® Extra Large DuraCeramic™ Panini Maker and Indoor Grill. Butter the outside of two slices of bread. On their non-buttered sides, use a spatula to spread the pizza sauce. Then, top with a handful of cheese and cover with pepperoni slices. If you like more toppings on your pizza, add chopped green pepper and mushrooms. Then, cook the panini in the machine for 5-8 minutes.
Cheesesteaks deliver on flavor with their juicy beef and cheese filling. Try this grilled version for a new way to enjoy a classic.
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup sliced yellow onion
- 1/2 cup sliced green peppers
- 1/2 cup mushrooms (optional)
- Sliced bread
- 1/2 pound shaved steak, fully cooked
- 1/4 pound American cheese, sliced.
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the onion, peppers and mushrooms to the pan and cook until soft, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the pan, and heat your Oster® Extra Large DuraCeramic™ Panini Maker and Indoor Grill. Brush olive oil on two slices of bread. Then, fill the bread with the shaved steak, the peppers, mushrooms and onions and two slices of American cheese. Cook in the machine for 5-8 minutes, until the cheese is melted, and enjoy.
