As tasty as they are, potato chips aren't a well-balanced snack. They're full of high levels of sodium and oil, so while they may taste great in the moment, they're basically empty calories.

A much healthier alternative is to make veggie chips in your Oster® Stainless Steel Convection Oven with Pizza Drawer. With just a few ingredients, you can create delicious chips that are full of nutrients and minerals, so you can snack without the guilt.

Here are some easy veggie chips you can make in your toaster oven:

Herbed Zucchini Chips
Zucchinis have a mild flavor that translates into tasty toasted chips. A sprinkling of herbs and a splash of lemon juice help make these chips mouth-watering without high sodium levels.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large zucchini
  • 1 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Light sprinkle sea salt

Directions
Line a small pan with aluminum foil. Slice the zucchini into 1/4-inch-thick slices, then place in an even layer in the pan. Brush zucchini slices with olive oil, then sprinkle with seasonings and lemon juice. Top with dash of sea salt, then bake in the Oster® Stainless Steel Convection Oven with Pizza Drawer at 425 degrees for 12-15 minutes, or until chips become lightly browned. Let cool slightly and enjoy.

Sweet Carrot Chips
Carrots are naturally sweet, which make them great veggies for turning into chips. Accent this sweetness with a dash of cinnamon and you have a snack that's healthy and delicious - and full of the important antioxidant beta-carotene.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4-5 large carrots
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions
Line a small pan with aluminum foil. Slice the carrots into thin rounds, then place in an even layer in the pan. Brush carrot slices with olive oil, then sprinkle with cinnamon, salt and pepper. Bake in the Oster® Stainless Steel Convection Oven with Pizza Drawer at 425 degrees for 12-15 minutes, or until carrots become lightly browned. Let cool slightly and enjoy.

Bold Beet Chips
Beets are bursting with antioxidants and flavor. Enjoy them in a whole new way as crispy, bright-purple chips.

Ingredients:

  • 3 beets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions
Line a small pan with aluminum foil. Slice the beets into 1/8-inch-thick slices, then place in an even layer in the pan. Brush beet slices with olive oil, then sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper. Bake in the Oster® Stainless Steel Convection Oven with Pizza Drawer at 425 degrees for 15-18 minutes, or until beets become lightly browned. Let cool slightly and enjoy.

Crispy Sweet Potato Chips
Traditional potato chips are not so good for you - but when you swap in nutrient-rich sweet potatoes for brown potatoes and bake the chips instead of fry them, you have a healthier chip to enjoy. The addition of spices make this chip extra scrumptious, too.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large sweet potato
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions
Line a small pan with aluminum foil. Slice the sweet potato into 1/8th-inch-thick slices, then place in an even layer in the pan. Brush sweet potato slices with olive oil, then sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, sea salt and black pepper. Bake in the Oster® Stainless Steel Convection Oven with Pizza Drawer for 15-20 minutes at 425 degrees until sweet potato chips are crispy. Let cool slightly and enjoy.

Garlic Green Bean Chips
Green beans are absolutely delicious when transformed into chips. With a satisfying crunch and a garlic seasoning, green bean chips will be your new go-to snack.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound green beans
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Directions
Line a small pan with aluminum foil. Spread the green beans in an even layer in the pan, then brush with olive oil. Sprinkle with sea salt, garlic powder, celery salt, black pepper and onion powder. Bake in the Oster® Stainless Steel Convection Oven with Pizza Drawer for 15-20 minutes at 425 degrees until beans are crispy. Let cool slightly and enjoy.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
