This procedure is only necessary the first time the SPEEDBREW® Coffeemaker is used or after the internal tank has been drained for moving or long-term storage.

Prior to first use the internal hot water tank must be filled with water and the water given time to heat to proper brewing temperature.

STEP 1
  • Make sure the coffeemaker is unplugged.
  • Wash the glass decanter (Model SB11) or the thermal carafe (Model SBT85) and the filter basket in warm water and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly then dry with a clean cloth. Replace filter basket onto rails and decanter on the coffeemaker.
STEP 2
  • Set the Brew Control Dial to "Brew Regular"
STEP 3
  • Fill the glass decanter with fresh, cold water to the "10 cup" line.
STEP 4
  • Slowly empty the water from the glass decanter into the water fill area on top of the coffeemaker.
  • Allow a few minutes for the water to drain into the internal hot water reservoir.
STEP 5
  • Fill a second glass decanter with fresh, cold water to the "10 cup" line.
  • Slowly empty the water from the glass decanter into the water fill area on top of the coffeemaker.
  • Allow a few minutes for the water to drain into the internal hot water reservoir.
STEP 6
  • Fill a third glass decanter with fresh, cold water to the "2 cup" line corresponding to the top of the metal band.
  • Slowly empty the water from the glass decanter into the water fill area on the coffeemaker. Place the decanter on the Warming Plate.

NOTE: Adding more water than the specified amount will cause water to flow from the brew basket. If water comes out of the brew basket, replace carafe under coffeemaker.
STEP 7
  • Plug the power cord into a working 120 Volt AC power outlet.
  • Set the Power Switch (located on the lower left side of the coffeemaker) to ON. The Power Switch will illuminate while in the ON position.
STEP 8
  • Wait 20 minutes to allow the water in the internal hot water reservoir to reach the proper brewing temperature.
Your SPEEDBREW® Coffeemaker is now ready for you to start brewing your first pot of coffee. To brew coffee, follow the "Brewing Coffee" instructions in the Instruction Manual.
