Rated 5 out of 5 by Thaines from Read the instructions! Well, my first try at making ice cream in this didn't work, it ran forever and never did set up. I had already started the machine running when I read the instructions and realized I was supposed to have soaked the wooden bucket to swell the wood so it wouldn't leak. Oops! I just put the whole thing into a big stock pot thinking it would be ok. Nope! So after it not working I put the container of my mixture back in the fridge and tried again a few days later, this time following the instructions in the book, including the ice and salt amounts too, and voila, it worked easily. So, moral of the story is, read the instructions y'all!

Rated 1 out of 5 by CalmBeforeTheStorm from Looks Great However few flaws We had purchased the unit and tried to make Ice cream about 5 times now and it takes way to long to even make one quart.. Found that the wooden bucket is so pore quality that it leaks everywhere.. Had to retro fit Plastic bucket liner inside the wooden bucket to keep the bucket from leaking all the melting Ice. Even after that, the paddle is slightly to small to scrape/Clean the side of the metal canister to ensure the frozen Ice cream cleaned off the sides and to chill everything evenly so it takes much longer than it really should. a better design of the paddle/sizing would decrease the time to freeze. I am Trying to make a batch right now and is still running for over 2 hours and only just at milk shake thickness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by buffy1968 from Makes delicious ice cream Loved the Oster bucket ice cream maker with the old fashioned, classic look. Easy to use. The instructions were clear. A plus was having a variety of recipes included with the instructions. We made the vanilla, chocolate and rocky road. The homemade ice cream was very good. As good as premium ice cream bought in store or at an ice cream parlor. The only negative was the finish on the bucket. I let it air out for a couple days before filling the bucket with water for it to swell to help prevent leaks as instructed. Other wise great premium product that me and my family will use frequently and enjoy for years to come. Received as sample to review.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Krsteven5 from Not the best, but satisfied. The machine was slightly louder then anticipated but it worked well. It's a little large for storage and the wooden bucket leaked even after soaking it and allowing the wood to swell. It was an easy fix I just placed a towel underneath on my second run. It took approximately 30 minutes for the ice cream to thicken and the machine to stop which I thought was pretty reasonable. In the future I might not choose this exact style of ice cream machine maybe a more modern looking, easier to store model. But overall it did the job and the ice cream turned out great! I'm anxious to try other recipes. I received this product as a sample specific to review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by npollard from Excellent Product I was sent this product to test out. I am very pleased with the overall quality of the 4 quart ice cream maker. I thought the wooden bucket gave it an old timey feeling. This product was very easy to use. The instruction booklet provided many different recipes for homemade ice cream, yogurt and sherbet. Many of the ingredients required were things you would have on hand in your home. My 7 year old was able to help me make homemade ice cream which was good mother/son quality time spent together. Clean up was a breeze & easy to store being it doesn't take up a lot of space. This product will make many batches of yogurt & homemade ice cream in our home on hot summer days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TXgirl55 from Great Machine for Cold Treats I've been using my new Oster Ice Cream Maker for the past few weeks, making homemade ice cream and sorbet, and I couldn't be happier. I've had a plastic bucket Oster for about 15 years, it's been a go to for making frozen treats, but I have to say my new Wooden Bucket Oster is so much quieter and quicker! And I love the old fashioned, retro look of the wooden bucket! My only complaint is with the recipes provided. My family was not a fan when I tried an Oster recipe. You might like it, but I'm sticking with family recipes! highly recommend this machine. (Disclaimer: I received this item as a sample review.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by LarryM from Good Product I made the rocky road first try and it turned out great. It did take a bit longer than instructions stated which was 56 minutes as opposed to the 30 to 40 minutes in the booklet. Also it does say to set on a flat surface such as a kitchen cabinet. Bad idea. The wooden bucket does leak so I moved it to the outside deck. Other than that it mixed perfectly and produced a great ice cream. Noted some users complained about paddles breaking. I would suggest not placing them in a dish washer as the drying cycle could cause this problem. Just a side note that I have an Oster blender that I have had for 14 years and it still works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bud7450 from First time user, LOVE IT!!!! I received this ice cream maker for fathers day. I have never made homemade ice cream so I read all the reviews and was worried about a lot of people complaining about water leakage thru the bucket. I wanted to test it before I used it so I followed the directions and filled the bucket with water and let set for over 2 hours and there was no leaks what so ever, yeah. I made my first batch of yogurt (pina colada) and let me tell you this was the best yogurt I have ever tasted so I made a batch of chocolate ice cream, also great. I highly recommend this machine and just add to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.
