Rated 1 out of 5 by from Charger went out again just after one year wareant I love the ease of the Oster wine opener especially since I suffer from carpal tunnel. I had bought an opener in 2011 and it stopped charging just after the one year warranty. I decided to give it another try last year and I shouldn’t have been surprised by the fact that the same thing happened with the second one. Almost one year to the day the base charges but the opener won’t charge at all. So frustrating!!! I won’t make the same mistake by trusting the Oster product again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well After Battery Swap Overall this is a great appliance. It would get 5 stars from me if the original rechargeable battery lasted longer. At 18 months it began to need lots of charges and didn't have much power. Since it was out of warranty, I opened it up, found out what battery size and type it used, and ordered a known brand to replace the OEM generic one. Once the swap was done, [WARNING: this requires some knowledge of electrical circuitry and soldering technique] my corkscrew worked like a champ again, and is still going strong 3 years later.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only got one use and it wouldn't hold a charge Bought this Electric Wine Opener and ONLY got one use out of it before it malfunctioned. The charging base barely charges. I can get a charge enough to work into the cork, but it will not pull it out (not enough power due to lack of charge). Have to reverse to get it partially out then manually twist the rest of the cork (barely working). Back to using manual cork pull. Was researching and trying all the advice out there over the past year, but it appears that I have a bad one, based on looking at all the other reviews. Not going to try to contact Oster as it appears that will only further waste time since this is now more than a year old. In the garbage, it goes. Waste of money and plastic.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What was Blue is now Red I have had this Oster Silver Electric Wine Opener for less than a year. I loved it. After using it, I would put it back on the charger and the light was blue. Now, it just stays red. No instructions as to what that means. I would really like a replacement as I really like this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Corkscrew STOP Charging. My fairly new (about 2 years old) and maybe used just about six (6) times has stopped charging. I've tried various methods/procedures to troubleshoot the charging base but no luck with that. I have contacted Oster for help and/or a solution but my request was denied based upon the item's warranty. I only wanted to know if the charging base could be repaired, but no help was provided. Needless to say I am very upset with this product, that I decided to throw it in the garbage and never again thrust products from Oster. I've noticed many similar ratings and reports in regards to this particular Corkscrew. I, as a Quality Director for diverse companies for over 50 years, recognize mediocre manufactured products and this for sure is a bad one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great until it Was NOT!!! We have loved this and it was great until it was not. We have had this just over a year or so and then it gradually began not charging completely and totally stopping in the process of removing a cork. Not sure what to do now. As I said we have really enjoyed this. And would like to replace it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do NOT recommend this product We bought this wine charter in 2021, and it worked fine for the first year. By 2023 didn’t seem to be charging very well… we tried charging it yesterday and kept smelling burning plastic. The next morning when we came downstairs the wine opener had started melting. I would avoid this product as it has trouble charging and likely came close to starting a fire in our kitchen.

The batteries are $7 online and come with the male-side SM already wired. I&#39;ve replaced my battery twice in about 3 or 4 years. I also rubbed off the sticky black rubber coating with isopropyl alcohol and a paper towel. This wine opener just keeps on going if you change the original battery. I love it. Insert a pointed, narrow-blade knife (or a narrow screwdriver) into the space between the opener&#39;s inner wall and the corkscrew. &amp;nbsp; It helps to have someone hold a flashlight so that you can see into the opening.&#13;&#10;2. Either stick the point into the cork or put the knife blade beside the cork and turn it a bit to hold the cork to the wall.&#13;&#10;3. Note: Pressing the upper part of the opener&#39;s switch makes the corkscrew turn clockwise as you look into the open end. &amp;nbsp;Press it briefly and see if the cork moves toward the opening. &amp;nbsp; If so a number of short pushes of the switch should move the cork to the end of the corkscrew and out of the bottle opener. <div class="bvseo-author">Answered by: Ralph8399</div> <div class="bvseo-pubdate">Date published: 2024-04-05</div> </div> </div> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> if (document.getElementById('bvseo-questionsSection')) { document.getElementById('bvseo-questionsSection').style.display = 'none'; } </script> <!--end-questions--> <!--begin-pagination--> <ul id="bvseo-paginationSection"> <li class="bvseo-paginationItem"><a class="bvseo-paginationLink" href="https://www.oster.com/beverage/oster-silver-electric-wine-opener/SP_440178.html?bvrrp=Main_Site-en_US/questions/product/2/SP_440178.htm">Oster&reg; Silver Electric Wine Opener Questions - page 2</a></li> </ul> <!--end-pagination--> <ul id="BVSEO_meta" style="display:none!important"> <li data-bvseo="bvDateModified">y_2024, m_4, d_17, h_5CST</li> <li data-bvseo="ps">bvseo_bulk, prod_bvqa, vn_bulk_3.0.41</li> <li data-bvseo="cp">cp_1, bvpage1</li> <li data-bvseo="co">co_hasquestionsanswers, tq_23</li> <li data-bvseo="cf">loc_en_US, sid_SP_440178, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=LAST_APPROVED_ANSWER_SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]</li> <li data-bvseo="diagnostics">clientName_oster</li> </ul> <!--end-bvseo-questions--> <ul id="BVSEOSDK_meta" style="display: none !important;"> <li data-bvseo="sdk">bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0</li> <li data-bvseo="sp_mt">CLOUD, getContent, 0ms</li> <li data-bvseo="ct_st">questions, product</li> </ul>
