All parts except for the blender base are dishwasher safe. Place sealing ring in bottom basket of dishwasher.
Use a damp, soft sponge with mild detergent to clean the outside of the blender base.

Careful not to push the high speed when you want it on slow. I liked the dial type better on my old one with the pulse button in the middle. But the real problem is separating the blade housing from the jar. Put it between you knees and twist the housing with plenty of upper arm strength should do it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by BBell from I am IMPRESSED! I love the reversing action blade and 3 preprogrammed settings. The reversing blade makes sure chunky and thick-ish contents are properly chopped. The blender design with separate blade and rubber ring is excellent for cleaning but the pressure created when plain water is at the max fill line for BNG cup and the blender is on high makes it leak. I'm okay with that because I know the contents cannot be forced into the mechanism as happened with other brands I had. Max-fill for a foaming smoothie in the BNG is 16 oz, not 24. If you want more than that, use the jar it comes with and be glad you can thoroughly clean the blade in the dishwasher unlike other brands. There's also an anti-rotation tab that prevents the jar from accidentally coming unscrewed if you don't tighten it enough before blending. BTW, I'm a food scientist who knows about sanitary design and food equipment. The Oster engineers have designed a great product.

We've taken it apart and put it back together carefully, lined up, according to the directions. And it leaks. EVERY time! This isn't our first blender by any means, but I am doubtful we'll buy another Oster. Very disappointed!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Clean from Cup bacteria no removal Cups are not sealed and therefore retain bacteria. This blender offers acceptable performance overall. My issue is with the cups which are used for smoothies. After my first blueberry and banana smoothie I contacted Oster on instruction of how to get the "blue" out of the top seam of the cup, Oster told me the cups are not meant for small fruits with seeds & told me discard the cup and sent me another cup free of charge. Unfortunately, most of the nutritious smoothie recipes have blueberries. I continue to make blueberry smoothies, and the blender does an excellent job mixing, but the cup is long gone. It was a wonderful idea but quality is not there. I tried everything from soaking to small metal bristle brush, cannot get blueberry seeds out or small pieces of spinach. The bacterial growth is there as the cup smells disgusting after scrubbing and drying. I had to discontinue using the cup, which was my primary reason to select this blender over others. I have photos but this form is not allowing to upload.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wayone from Perfect Blender for meals. Efficient dependable!! Perfect Blender for meals. Efficient dependable!! We use this at least once a day for years! It has just the right settings. Big huge bonus is it has fast efficient buttons, so you know the second you press it. None of the nasty touch screens with slow response where you have to keep shoving your finger into the display. The top line of buttons give you the perfect choices, whether you are grinding meat, chicken or softer things. Easy to keep clean and as a bonus you do not have separate it to clean, unless you make the mistake of letting food dry on it. Fast response. It is so dependable. It is easy to clean. Seems impossible to break unless you are careless and try to set it in a sink so other things can hit it. I have cleaned it over a thousand times: easy, fast and it is clean as glass do not seem to allow things to stick, unless you make the mistake of letting it be dirty and sit around. Important to clean it once you remove the food. Very reliable with dependable, about perfect design and function!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by CAJS from Decent but difficult I've had mine for about 9 months and use it about 4 times per week. The blender is plenty powerful, it often gets stuck and needs some cajoling while doing frozen items for a smoothie. When you turn up the intensity or speed the volume is so loud that it can/will hurt your ears. I made the mistake of doing that at the start of owning this and it temporarily perforated one of my ear drums (all healed now) so I keep ear plugs in the drawer next to this in case I need to ramp up the power on it. Separating the glass top from the blades at the bottom is an ordeal. I'm young and in good shape but the width of the base and the tight fit required to make the blender not leak during use makes it difficult to separate for cleaning. I have found that using one of those grip pads in one hand, and other hand holding on to the glass top handle works best. I've also found if you separate it immediately after use (don't let it sit in sink for a while) is best, I suspect because it's still warmed up and easier to loosen as a result. This isn't a thrilling machine, but overall works well for my needs.
