Hello. The Oster® Classic 3-Speed Blender does not have a locking mechanism. To ensure proper assembly, please align the blender jar with the base and twist it clockwise until it fits snugly. Avoid using excessive force to prevent any damage to the blender. If you experience any difficulties, please reach out to us via our official Oster "Contact Us" https://www.oster.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am -5pm Eastern Time. Thank you and please stay safe! Oster Care

My favorite feature of Oster blenders has been ability to use standard mason jars as mini-processing containers - is this feature still available?

Yes. It does still fit on the regular (standard) mouth Osters with the regular width jars, the larger and more powerful Osters use a larger jar opening. The best option is to buy an additional jar and blade assembly and use the 4 blades on the mason jar (always use at least a quart size for safety or else it can explode, I learned this the hard way!) And then use the 6-blade 'ice crusher' on your regular Oster-provided jar!
