However, the removable "screw" used to secure the blade to the pitcher is made of plastic and broke within 10 uses, rendering the entire blender unusable. This should have been designed to last despite being removed for cleaning as intended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best blender I have ever had I have had this blender for years and use it all the time. Makes great blended drinks and I love the reversible feature. I can walk away from it and it "just knows" when to stop. I also use the chop food feature a lot. All uniform sizes.

I have gone through all kinds of budget friendly blenders over the years, and though paying a lot more for the pricier, high-performance models seemed a better option, the money wasn't there to do so. I had an older Oster that was leaky and beat up from overuse that needed new blades and gaskets, but hubby resorted to just buying other cheap blenders, again and again when needed....and would end up using the old leaky Oster when they died! Finally I just ordered the parts and enjoyed it's use for many more years. When the motor started to smell funny, we opted to put it back into storage and this time get the new Oster reverse crush model, since smoothies and sauces are a big item here! I LOVE it! It is amazing for blending various ingredients in a smoothie, adding even ice and frozen items, all liquidized quite nicely! I am thrilled that the Oster continues to utilize all metal drive parts, unlike so many competitors...that fact, the price range, and the continued high ratings will keep an Oster in my kitchen!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked well before leaking I bought the blender a year ago. Used perhaps 20-30 times. The cutting blade leaks through where it fits onto the blender...At first I thought perhaps I hadn't tightened the screw part enough . No wasn't that was the blade mechanism itself. I ordered a new blade, hasn't arrived yet. Give it another chance.
