All parts except for the blender base are dishwasher safe. Place sealing ring in bottom basket of dishwasher.
Use a damp, soft sponge with mild detergent to clean the outside of the blender base.

And now the traditions continues and this is my second blender and I love my16 speed blender. But I recently noticed that the blade while using the blender was kind of skipping (the best I can describe it) and when I checked I noticed the black plastic base of the jar was cracked (broken) and I was so disappointed and upset especially when I tried to find it in stores as they no longer carry the 16 speed blender. This blender is a necessity in our home and in our culture for making our sofrito and of course other things. Please Help!!!! Also I can use and need a lid replacement too!!! HELP

Rated 1 out of 5 by Lexicon from 16 Speed Blender Classic and with Food Chopper I have purchased 3 of these blenders in the past month trying to give Oster the benefit of the doubt. I purchased the 16 Speed Blender with Food Processor in Red SEVEN years ago and it is still going strong. So when it came time to buy a second blender I wanted to go with reliable. Oster has never failed me in the past. I went with the Classic Series 16 Speed because I already have the processor, I love smoothies. Doesn't crush ice, despite the TWO ice crush settings on high. No vortex. I try problem solving from replacing the lid, maybe too much air is getting out because the design is odd considering it needs to create a vortex but the lid isn't tightly tucked. Called Amazon up, maybe a fluke, tried another one. Same thing. So I went to the tried and true 16 Speed w/ Processor but still same thing. It's like the quality has gone to trash. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I even had to do a quality control, see if I'm doing something wrong, did side by side with the red one and the new one, red one worked fine, STILL after SEVEN years, new one!! NO blend!! Just sad!!

I had purchased a pair of personal Oster smoothie makers a few years back, and I use them religiously! I was excited when I received this new Oster blender as a gift. I took my blender out of the packaging, added my ingredients (according to the instructions) and after a couple of seconds of blending, my brand new blender began to smoke and immediately shut off! I waited a few days and tried it again, but that was no use! It still would not turn on! Is there a problem with full-size Oster blenders? While this blender says it can be used for mixed drinks, salsa, etc., I'm not even putting anything hard, like ice, in it! This is really frustrating, especially when I'm trying to incorporate blended/pureed ingredients into my meals. It's also quite disappointing, as I've always put such faith in the quality of Oster products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 32EB from Old 16 still going after 10 years. I bought this blender about 10 years ago. I also have the shake blade. It sits on my counter to this day and works every time. I still us the original blade and the shake blade. So, it's disappointing when I hear that the quality has gone down. The blades should never brake and as many times I've dropped the glass or plastic parts they have never cracked or broken. I do put hot stuff in my blender also. I only clean the blades by rinsing the connected glass, rubber ring, and blade. Then add water and a drop of dish soap.... Blend and lastly take apart and rinse blade and wash the rest. It takes a minute. I never put in dish washer and after drying it just sits on counter. Hope it helps.

When I purchased the blender I had assumed that the base did not come off which made me wonder how I was going to effectively clean it since I had initially tried to remove it. No matter how hard I turned, it would not budge. I just went online, and of course like all blenders, the base and blade do come off. Easily? No! I have been struggling for about 30 minutes. There is no way to get an effective grip. The outer part of the base just spins in place, but there is no way to get the base off. Going to just have to throw it out and buy a different brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Indira from Work horse! My previous Oster freezer safe blender I had for just about 5-6 years when my kid sister broke it. It killed me. I got this as a replacement. Let me tell you, although I don't use this everyday, I am very satisfied with it. When I use it, I would use it in one day, for maybe 6 hours at a time! (Giving the motor a rest every thirty minutes to an hour.) Working with appliances pretty much all my life, I learned to get proper use and longevity from them requires care and maintenance. So one can imagine my disappointment, and heartbreak when I used my blender yesterday and noticed the jar base is cracked! And it still looks brand new, and unused. I don't trust compatible parts. They may or may not work. :( I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Too bad I didn't know this came with a 10 year warranty, and a 3 year guarantee. Thank you Oster, for 11 years!

This is certainly not the experience we want you to have. No worries, we are here to help. It might be because the unit is not getting enough power from the wall outlet where it is currently plugged in, or the wall outlet itself is a non working outlet. To remedy this issue, check if there is no physical damage on its cord and if there's none, try unplugging the unit and let it rest for 3-5 minutes. Plug the unit into a different wall outlet and see if it will work. 

Also take note that when the blender becomes overloaded or jammed when blending heavy ingredients, it will automatically shut off to prevent damage to the motor. Unplug the power cord. Remove the Blender Jar from the base and use a spatula to rearrange ingredients in the Blender Jar.
