How to Enhance Your Milkshake with Unique Flavors

When you use the Oster® Blender Milkshake Blade in your blender, you can create ice cream shop-quality milkshakes in your own home. But if you and your family are getting tired of the classic milkshake flavors - vanilla, chocolate and strawberry - why not try a more exotic flavor combination?

Experiment with one of these unique and unusual milkshake recipes.

The salty, sweet combination of bacon and ice cream makes this milkshake a hit. The salty, sweet combination of bacon and ice cream makes this milkshake a hit.

Maple Bacon Milkshake
As bacon has become hugely popular in the past few years, so have milkshakes flavored with this salty breakfast food. Try making your own at home with a sweet maple syrup twist. Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon bacon fat
  • Cooked bacon
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper.

Outfit your Oster® Brand blender with the milkshake blade, then add the cooled fat, ice cream, milk syrup, salt and pepper. Blend for about 30 to 40 seconds until your mixture is smooth and fluffy. Pour into a glass and garnish with a stick or two of bacon to add extra flavor and act as a stirrer. Consider adding a few bits of bacon into the actual milkshake as well.

Breakfast Food Bonanza
Bacon isn't the only breakfast food that makes a great milkshake. In Japan, there are instant breakfast milkshakes flavored like pancakes. People also make milkshakes that taste like waffles or breakfast cereal. Try creating your own breakfast milkshake with ice cream, milk, maple syrup, a little pancake mix and fresh blueberries.

Spicy Avocado
"Spicy" isn't typically a word associated with milkshakes, but this unique hot-cold savory milkshake is guaranteed to tickle your taste buds. Try this unique combination:

  • 1 avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper.

Blend all of these ingredients in your kitchen blender and give it a taste. It certainly isn't for everyone, but it offers a unique flavor pairing that can hit the spot for some.

The Nuttiest Milkshake
If you want to make a milkshake that's truly nutty, have each ingredient contain a nut or legume. Mix these ingredients in your blender:

  • 1/2 cup pistachio ice cream
  • 1 large scoop peanut butter
  • 1 small scoop chocolate-hazelnut spread
  • 1 cup almond milk.

Blend for about 45 seconds and serve with a straw for a tasty, rich drink that won't be boring.

Tea milkshake
If you like a nice cup of tea, then why not try it frozen? Mix green tea ice cream with milk and an additional sweetener just like you would when you're making a pot of tea. Just blend this one with your milkshake blade for a fluffy, frozen treat.
