Frozen Treats for Summer Vacation
When your kids get out of school this year, celebrate the end of the academic year and the beginning of summer with a tasty frozen confection. Here are a few tasty, cold treats that your children can make at home with you. Try one this year!
Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches
The only thing better than eating a scoop of ice cream is enjoying one in between two chocolate chip cookies. While anyone can cook up a batch of chocolate cookies from a mix or scratch at home, did you know that you could make ice cream in your kitchen as well?
Use the Oster® Ice Cream Maker to make your favorite flavor of ice cream. It allows you to make classic and customized ice cream in less than 30 minutes. It's a fun activity that you and your kids can do on a summer afternoon while the chocolate chip cookies are baking in the oven. Once they're ready, combine your two homemade treats for a one-of-a-kind combination.
If you're looking for a fun frozen treat that isn't as high in sugar as ice cream or frozen pops, consider a yogurt-based treat. You can use your Oster® Mykonos™ Greek Yogurt Maker to whip up fresh yogurt from dairy, soy or almond milk. Then all you need to do is mix in some fresh fruit, oats and other add-ins before freezing the dish for a few hours. You'll have a nutrient-filled treat for your kids to beat the heat with.
If your kids are tired of diary, consider blending a natural and easy slush option.
Place some of their favorite fruits in your juicer. Then take your fresh-squeezed juice and pour it into your performance blender with a lot of ice. Set your blender on HIGH and blend your juice with ice until your have a slushie mix. Feel free to add fresh fruit as well.
