4 Party-Perfect Casseroles

Casseroles are a crowd-pleasing dish that are a hit at any type of occasion. From holiday parties to birthday celebrations, this ultimate comfort food is sure to put a smile on guests' faces.

1. Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Casserole 
Chicken gets all dressed up for the party with this tasty recipe that features a light cream sauce bursting with savory flavor. 



  • 5 boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch strips 
  • 1/4 cup olive oil 
  • 2 teaspoons salt 
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs 
  • 1 yellow onion, diced 
  • 1 tablespoon finely minced garlic 
  • 2 cups thickly sliced mushrooms


  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups chicken broth 
  • 4 tablespoons flour 
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream 
  • 1/2 cup skim milk 
  • 1 tablespoon minced parsley 
  • 3 teaspoons lemon juice 

Brush chicken breasts with half of the olive oil, then season with salt and pepper. Dip each chicken strip into breadcrumbs, covering both sides. Briefly saute the chicken in a skillet on the stovetop until brown, then remove from heat. Then, saute the mushrooms, onions and garlic in the skillet until tender. Remove from heat, then arrange chicken and mushroom mixture in casserole pan greased with cooking spray. Combine the sauce ingredients in the Oster® Total Prep 10-Cup Food Processor with Dough Blade until smooth. Pour sauce over the chicken and mushrooms in the casserole pan, then cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

2. Cinnamon Sweet Potato Casserole 
Special occasions call for indulgence - so whip up this dreamy sweet potato casserole that boasts mouthwatering layers of deliciousness that hide a secret swirl of pumpkin puree for extra flavor. Watch it be eaten up in seconds! 



  • 3 1/2 pounds large sweet potatoes 
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree 
  • 1/3 cup milk 
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter 
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon 
  • 2 teaspoons nutmeg 
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar 
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 


  • 1/3 cup melted butter 
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon 
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar 
  • Dash salt 
  • 1/4 cup flour 
  • 2 1/2 cups mini marshmallows 

Peel sweet potatoes then cut into large chunks. Place potato chunks in a large pot, then cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook potatoes until soft and easily mashed. Place potatoes in the Oster® Total Prep 10-Cup Food Processor with Dough Blade, then add remaining base ingredients and combine until smooth and creamy. Pour mixture into casserole dish that has been misted with cooking spray, then bake at 350 until heated through, about 3-5 minutes. Meanwhile, clean food processor, then add in additional melted butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, salt and flour, and combine until smooth. Pour on top of casserole, add marshmallows on top, then return to oven to bake for 10-15 minutes. 

3. Italian Pesto Sliders
This recipe is not a traditional casserole per se, but it is a creative take on party fare. With minimal prep, you can put together an impressive dish that's low on prep and big on impact. 


  • 15-20 hamburger buns - do not pull apart 
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil 
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 pound prosciutto 
  • 1 pound salami 
  • 1 pound provolone cheese 
  • 3 tomatoes, sliced 
  • 1 large red bell pepper 
  • 1 large green bell pepper
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced 
  • 1 1/2 cups pickles, diced 
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce 
  • 2 teaspoons salt and pepper
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper

Spray bottom of casserole dish with cooking spray. Lay half of the hamburger buns - with buns connected - in the dish. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons olive oil, then layer on basil leaves, prosciutto, salami and cheese. Using the Oster® Oskar™ 2-in-1 Salad Prep & Food Processor, slice the peppers and onion. Arrange vegetables on top of the provolone, then add the pickles and shredded lettuce. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and the remaining olive oil, then assemble the other half of the hamburger buns. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes or until the buns are slightly toasted and serve. 

4. Cheesy Broccoli Chicken Casserole 
This homemade casserole is fully of hearty, comfort-food flavor. With the perfect pairing of melted cheddar cheese and broccoli, there's happy feelings in every spoonful! 


  • 6 chicken tenderloins cut into small cubes 
  • 1 1/2 cups instant white rice 
  • 1 can cream of chicken 
  • 1/4 cup chicken stock 
  • 2 1/2 cups milk 
  • 2 cups butter-flavored crackers, broken into pieces
  • 2 cups chopped broccoli

Mist casserole dish with cooking spray to grease. Using the Oster® Total Prep 10-Cup Food Processor with Dough Blade, combine the rice, cream of chicken, stock, milk and crackers until smooth. Place chicken and broccoli in casserole dish, then top with cracker mixture. Cook at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes, or until chicken is done, and serve.
