Chicken and Waffles
Get ready to cheer with this classic southern breakfast, which can be made with either chicken thighs or wings.
- 8 chicken wings or boneless thighs (with skin)
- 2 cups low-fat buttermilk
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- Buttermilk waffle batter
- Maple syrup
- Brown sugar.
Heat oven to 360 degrees. Place chicken in a bowl and top with the buttermilk, turning the chicken pieces over so they are completely covered. In a small bowl, mix together flour, salt, pepper and paprika and add to the chicken, making sure to coat each piece with the mixture. Coat a pan on the stovetop with oil and heat to a medium high temperature. Cook the chicken for 7-10 minutes on each side, then remove the chicken from the pan and place it on a baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, and once finished, cut into the chicken to make sure the meat is thoroughly cooked. Coat your Oster® Double Flip Waffle Maker with cooking spray and when it's fully heated, pour in the waffle batter. After it's fully cooked, remove the waffle and repeat the process until all of the batter is used up. Top each waffle with a tab of butter and a piece of chicken, then add a drizzle of maple syrup and sprinkle with brown sugar to serve.
Ham and Cheese Waffles
Warm, gooey and chewy, cheesy treats are hard to beat. These super-easy ham and cheese waffles will provide a perfectly savory start to your game day.
- Buttermilk waffle batter
- 1 cup chopped ham
- 1 cup shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese
- Eggs (optional).
Coat the Oster® Double Flip Waffle Maker with cooking spray and heat. Once it's sufficiently hot, pour in the batter and top with a handful of the ham and cheese. You can also mix the ham and cheese into the waffle batter itself before pouring the mix into the machine. After it's fully cooked, remove the waffle and top with butter and maple syrup. You can also add a fried egg for a wholesome breakfast.
