Bagel mode does not function.
Oster needs to fix their product and quality control.
I have this toaster, and the bagel mode does nothing- all elements stay on. It was a holiday gift less than 3 months ago, and I can't say the bagel mode ever worked.
To save the upcoming customer service insult, yes, I tested it by plugging the crazy short cord directly into a very functional outlet and it still doesn't work properly. This is a poor product, plain and simple, and Oster knows there is an issue here. If they cared about their name at all, they'd pull these products and not sell them until the issue is fixed. But I suspect, they already know this and made their decision

bagel setting doesnt work
Overall not a bad product. Toasters in general are expensive considering what they do. We've had ours 1 week and the bagel function doesn't work. The coils heat up on both the inner and outer sides. Got it at Target but threw out my receipt already, so we'll make due. Not happy about the Target price of $34.99 since it was one of the simplest toasters available at the store.

OK toaster but the electric cord is so darn short!
The toaster has worked OK for the past month. But the electric cord is so short (1 foot tops) that there is just one place that it will fit on my counter. You will say the cord is short to minimize the possibility that it will overheat. But customers want the toaster in a convenient location, so most will hook this up to an extension cord, which defeats the purpose of having a short cord in the first place. How about extending the length to 3 feet it make it more usable?

Looking for good toast from
Half toasted
Bought this toaster thinking I was getting a good product....it's fine as long as you only want one side of your bread toasted. Doesn't matter which slot I put it in .... comes out half toasted....the old toaster we threw out did better than that!

Product looked great in my kitchen but literally stopped working on day number 32 and the store would not accept return after 30 days. Only the inner coils would heat up and if I want to keep it I will need to hold button down and turn bread around periodically...not gonna happen! Such a shame that this name brand is not reliable anymore.

Useless Toaster - only toasts half the bread
I bought this toaster December 28, 2022 - 2 months ago! Here is a very good looking yet useless little appliance. It is a toaster that does not toast evenly, ever! It only toasts the bottom half of the bread, regardless of the type of bread or the setting you use. (See attached picture.) I did a video showing why: THERE ARE NO HEATING FILLAMENTS ON THE TOP PORTION OF THE THE DEVICE. Unfortunately, there is no way to upload the video here. I will post it on YouTube. I regret not having accessed and read the reviews here on the Oster website before wasting $40 for this toaster which does not fulfill its purpose. Since reading the reviews here for ALL THE OSTER TOASTERS I identified TWO COMMOM COMPLAINTS: UNVEVEN TOASTING & BREAKS EASILY. The conclusion is clear: OSTER MAKES POOR QUALITY TOASTERS.

Thank you for reaching out to Oster. We are sorry to hear that the latch of your toaster does not stay down. No worries, we are here to help. In some cases, this is caused by a build up of crumbs in the bottom of the toaster. You may try to unplug the unit. Let it rest for few minutes and turn it upside down to see if some bread crumbs will come out. Afterwards, try using the toaster again. Also, the toaster must be plugged in to a direct wall outlet and have power running to it, otherwise the lever will not stay down. Your toaster has a year limited warranty. If this wouldn't help fix the issue, we'd like to kindly request that you contact us directly in order to help you with warranty replacement. Have a good day!

For your toaster model, only the inner elements will light up if the bagel setting is selected. The bagel setting deactivates or lowers the power on the outer heating elements. Thank you for contacting Oster&reg;! That's good question. Yes, you are correct. The smell and light smoke you may see on the first use is from a protective coating of oil that is used during the manufacturing process. Without inserting any food into the bread slots, push the bread lever all the way down until it locks. The first toasting process will preheat the new elements and burn off any dust, which may have accumulated during storage. It is normal for this burn off to create an odor. We hope this clarifies!
