Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many uses I really like this burner. It is simple and does what it says. It has a dial for different temperature settings just like you would have on your stove. It heated to boil and stayed at a low rolling boil while I was cooking pasta. I loved that it didn't get super hot to boil over but hot enough to keep boiling throughout the cooking. It is small and could easily be transported anywhere. It would be great on potluck day at work, tailgating, or to have an extra burner for large family dinners. Definitely worth the money. Disclaimer-I received this product as a sample to review.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Handy but needs some improvement Upon receiving this single hot plate, first thing I noticed is its appearance is not that appealing. Once I opened the box I noticed it does not feel very durable, it is light weight and feels like it can be dented or scratched very easily. I also am a bit disappointed at the size. I would expect it to be as large as the largest burner on a regular stove top. I compared it and it is a cross between the small and large. The dial is ok but you can easily change the setting by mistake. It does seem to heat up well. It took longer than the stove top but not by much. I was given this hot plate for free to test for an honest review .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Addition to Office Break Room Love this product!! My work office has a break room, and we are all so constantly busy that going out for lunch usually isn't an option. Most people bring lunch and eat at their desks. But now we have a way to have a fresh, hot meal without leaving the building! I was so excited when I was *sent one of these free to try and review.* My office mates and I love it! I can cook up a grilled cheese to go with my can of soup on one of these cold winter days, or we can fry up burgers and dogs on a slow day. Best product ever! Love it! And it's so easy to use, anyone on my office can do it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice hot plate. Holy smoke, this really cooks !! I expected it to get hot, thats what it is supposed to do,but I left the room for a few (very few) minutes and my whole pot of coffee that I had just brewed was nearly all gone!! LOL !!!! My fault exclusively and a total surprise,I have had hot plates before but never one so accurate temp-wise. I love it ,I reccommend it ,but always keep this in mind when you turn it on.It really COOKS,not just WARMS !!!! *I was given this product to review*

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact and Convenient This little gem is compact and convenient -- it's perfect as an extra burner when you have a lot of food to prepare. It could also be used while tailgating, or to take to a party to help with the food prep. It heated up pretty quickly, and I was able to fry eggs with no problem. It does take a little while to cool down so be careful after using it. The heat setting is as easy to use as on a standard stove. Disclaimer- I received the product as a sample to review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cooks Great! I got it a few weeks ago and I love it! Easy to clean. Takes a while to heat up but it cooks fast! But it is great for me because I am a stay-at-home parent of 2 l and I can cook as long as I want. Plus, it is small and discreet, I can level it in a safe area where my kids can't get to it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Bother I've had good Oster appliances in the past so I was surprised to find this hot plate so under powered. I took the first one back to Target to swap for another because I thought I had a lemon. The second one after 10 minutes on HIGH couldn't boil 3 cups of water in a pot. In fact I was able to stick my fingers in the water without scalding myself. It would have taken at least 15 minutes just to start boiling. A Barbie Dollhouse kitchen stove would heat faster. I'm sorry Oster but this is also a toy. Don't waste a trip on this one, spend a few dollars more and get a serious hot plate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Has its purpose I got this unit as a sample to try. This unit works great for frying things like grilled cheese sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, etc. I don't recommend it for boiling a kettle full of water. It takes too long to do, it is much faster on a stove. I think this is great for a camper or college dorm room setting or if you are out of burner space and want to keep something warm. It is easy to use and I like the texture of the hot plate, things don't slide off easily.
