Rated 1 out of 5 by JHS1 from Design Flaw After only 4 or 5 uses, my Model 5273 Food Processor would not turn on. It took me a while to discover that the plastic safety switch actuator arm located in the bowl handle had cracked and become disfunctional. I was able to override the switch for that single use but the unit has been idle ever since. I was happy to see that a replacement unit is now available. In retrospect, my guess is that I placed the lid on the bowl before snapping the bowl into place on the base thereby putting too much pressure on the flimsy actuator arm. This was disappointing since my Oster Blender has been going strong for eleven years. Hope this was helpful..

Rated 1 out of 5 by Di Disgusted from Piece of Junk Oster This is a powerful machine, however, the bowl and top are pieces of plastic junk. The bowl cracked in less than 10 times of using it. I used a couple more times but ordered a replacement since it was under warranty. The lid also cracked, but I was told it was no longer covered by warranty so I paid $10 for the lid replacement. I have called customer service numerous times and have been told the bowl is on back order and I needed to order online using eBay!! I even tried that, but never available. I spent close to $100 for this piece of Junk and cannot use it! Never again will this old gal buy another Oster product. I've learned you do not honor your warranty nor do you even try to help!

Rated 1 out of 5 by other from poor quality at any price i purchased my 14 cup food processor 5 months ago based on the oster name, and the motor size. within 3 weeks the large bowl started cracking. the crack has continued on its path and the bowl is no longer usable with any liquids. i am told by oster that there is no warranty on the bowl( i did not ask, or expect that there would be) and the part is not available at this time. the expected length of back order is 4-6 weeks, but there is no guarantee of this.i do not need or want a reply about calling customer service as i can see from previous reviews that this is an automatic response generated by a poor performance review.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Honesty from Cracked safety switch After just 4 uses my unit would not turn on. I later discovered that the piece inside the handle that pushes down on the safety switch had cracked. I took the handle apart to see if I could glue it back together as I had a lot of canning I was planning on doing that day, the plastic was so brittle that it easily broke in another place when I was trying to hold it together as the glue set. Very disappointing when you buy a product that is supposed to be a good brand and should last, and really you only get a few uses out of it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Captian Plastic from Broken Actuator Arm I bought this unit last fall. Worked well, until the actuator within the large bowl handle snapped. This has happened to a number of users. Are we doing something wrong when removing the bowl? Mine always required way too much effort to turn. In retrospect, it was clearly not unlocking for me. There are no clear instructions on removing that I can see in user guide. Help, please.

Rated 1 out of 5 by annoyed customer from Second Replacement for this part This part is faulty. the plastic piece that allows the connection for the food processer to function is easy to break, despite being entirely encased. I am now required to replace the entire bowl assembly a second time, due to the same type of breakage. I like the food processer as a whole, but it is frustrating to have to continually replace the entire bowl when it is such a superfluous little thing breaking that does not effect the bowl itself. The frustration comes that the food processer will not work without this fragile piece of plastic intact.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Gary L from Get something else I bought this food processor as a replacement for a Cuisinart unit so I would have a larger capacity. Lousy thing didn't last 6 months before the actuator in the handle broke. Here I am shopping for replacement parts. I feel quality control has done a high speed face plant into a wall. Makes me ask Oster what happened? I have other Oster branded products that I have used for 20+ years without any problems.
